Message about Covid 19

19th March 2020

Dear Member,

The Boat Club Committee held a meeting via audio link this evening to consider the guidance issued by the Government, British Rowing, and the governing bodies of other sports, in respect of controlling the spread of coronavirus. It was agreed unanimously that to ensure the safety of our members and the wider public, the only appropriate course of action was for the Boat Club to stop all training activity off and on the water, and for the boathouse to close. The situation will be kept under regular review but under the present circumstances all we can say is that the Club will remain closed until further notice.

It hardly comes as any consolation but several other clubs in the BR Northwest Region have already closed and both the Canoe Club and Outrigger Group have taken the same action.

Steps will be taken to ensure that the boathouse and our equipment are properly maintained and kept secure. All being well advice regarding training will be sent by our Captains and Coaches via the Club’s website and the HeJa and FitClub apps

It goes without saying that this is a very difficult and sad time for all of us but it is important that we do our best to support each other and take a positive approach to our situation in the hope that things will return to normal as soon as possible.

With kind regards,Tony Gath,
Chairman, Trentham Boat Club.
