Sorry about the terrible pun! The lake is beautiful at the moment but we are still in a cold snap. It’s a good time to think about what you would do if you or someone else went into the water.
Make sure you wear plenty of thin layers of clothing and bring spares. Hats are great at keeping you warm. If someone does fall in – help them to the boathouse as soon as possible. Don’t become a victim, yourself – the rescuer should not go into the water too. There are dry towels and foil blankets in a box by the shutter door. Both launches have foil blankets too. Warm people up slowly, make sure they shower and give them warm drinks. Stay with them until recovered. Remember to fill in the incident log ( for further info on incident reporting click here).
